It started as an "unfortunate" situation. The original TORT one warped UP. Making it IMPOSSIBLE to slap. "Luckily", I found another one online. It didn't fit. I learned that... because these PM4's were all individually handmade... no two were EXACTLY alike, and Sandberg would NOT make another. When I took the original off, in order to put the "new" one on... well... it didn't fit. But... I fell in love with the burst. Therefore, I ordered the clear PG material, and cut my own. You can see that up by the Black piece, that there are two screws missing. I still don't have the heart to put extra holes in this early/pre VM4 bass.

Then, yeah... I switched all of the hardware to black. I like it. [edit] Then I painted the headstock black. Yeah... I killed any resale value. But, She's MINE.

Same here. I'm a rounds guy and I thought having a P with rounds and a P with flats would be a good thing. My P with flats does sound great but I rarely use it.

Same here. I bought a Squier 50s P several years ago to scratch an itch, and as a backup bass. The stock nickel-plated steel rounds sounded too bright with the single coil, so I put some flats on. It sounds fantastic, but it's not a sound that fits the material I usually play in my band. It's been sitting in a case for months unplayed.

Maybe I'll give it one more go at a band rehearsal before I decide what to do with it.

If I played like a crazy person still, I’d have a round and a flat P and J. Instead I go round P flat J.

I was thing of doing the opposite. I would of thought flats sound better on a P?

I'm flats only on fretless, rounds only on frets.

I'm the opposite. Flats on frets and rounds on fretless.
Reason being, flats are great, my overall preference.
But I like rounds on fretless, even though they're destructive, because they accentuate the "mwah" much more than flats.
Don't knock it 'til you try it.

I tried a P with rounds and one with flats. Now I have two P basses with rounds. Bought a 50s Squire precision yesterday to try with flats. Not overly optimistic, but it made for a great excuse to buy it.

Had 2 P basses and 2 Stingrays.
One P with flats, one with rounds.
One Ray with rounds (3 band), one with flats (2 band).

I only have 1 P and 1 Ray now, but I'd like to double them again.
I'd put flats on the second P though, I'm mostly after a second P bass to have a different pickup on it.
