Interesting, I haven’t really thought about checking for input impedance for quite sometime. We discuss it here on Talk Bass, but the all three of the amplifiers I’ve used namely a Ampeg B-15N((C), Walter Woods Electroacoustic Ultra, and Gallien Krueger 2000MB were all set at 1 Meg Ohm, or higher in the case of the B-15, which is set at 5.6 Meg on the Channel 1 first input. Most of the amps DB players use are at least I Meg Ohm. With the exception being the older Markbass amps. So, unless you’re using either of the two offerings from Fishman it’s not much of an issue as one might think. When we get above 1 Meg it’s really more up to the individual players taste. Just an observation. I think 5 Meg Ohms sounds better, others love 10 Meg, there’s even a 20 Meg setting on the Headway EDB-2 that some players swear by.

I'm usually happy with 4.7 - 5, unless a pickup wants to see 10 megs.

FYI, the Yamahiko is a suggested 10M too. (Yamaya suggests a countryman85 to match)
...and the Acoustic Image heads run at 10M too.

I find 10m much too bass-heavy with the Yamahiko on my bass. 5M seems to work best for me, but many times 1M is preferred in certain rooms with certain bands. My bass is a 7/8ths and already bass-heavy so YMMV

Don't cut the underwood wire just use one of the two sides.

If you don't have one the KNB-1's definitely worth looking into.

Don't cut the underwood wire just use one of the two sides unless it's non functioning. The sound quality is 100% proper fit.

Yes I was disappointed to find that out about the Series IV. But you can get it set to 10M if you want by contacting AI. (I may be sending mine in the near future)

AI has great CS!
