Beavers? Nope. Wrong kind of beavers anyway. The absolute best basses are never made on CNC even the highest end N-axis ones. The ONLY basses I"ll ever own are so high end they don't even have a name on the headstock. That is to keep them from becoming widely known by the rabble. They are TOTALLY organic! Swamp Ash, Alder and mahogany bass body blanks are shipped to the far North of Alaska where during the long winder months the women of a secret Inuit village gently chew the blanks into proper bass shapes. Their saliva passively soaks the wood resulting in a tone so unsurpassed that it takes a mortgage on your house to put a down payment on these basses. Even the rock stars that own them won't admit to it for fear of leaking out secrets.

This is well illustrated if you look at neck profiles of some Pre-CBS Fenders.

You should know the differences between a new Haas and a SunShine or Baoma.
There is a big differences between a good machine and one that is third hand and has been beat.

I've sen some 57's that had a severe V neck, some 58's-59's that had a reasonably radiuses back, and my 60's that has an unbelievable flat back.
OTOH, some were not nearly so pronounced. Different builders, different days, etc.
I have a 72 built on Cinco de Mayo that I'm pretty sure was built after lunch; super cracked and checked CAR finish with an A neck!
(and it was like this when I bought it in about 1980)

Well everybody knows that if holding .0005" for a racing engines is not nearly close enough for a wood product that will probably shrink and grow by at least a few thousandths just by humidity and air temperature.:thumbsup:

That was a pretty mess spirited comment about someone you know nothing about.
 
True, but you now have machine error repeated multiple times before it is caught by a technician. A good luthier rarely repeats a mistake.

Another ridiculous assumption....you seriously expect a modern factory is going to...
a) not check the first part off the program?
b) not check any additional parts and/or have the ability to identify out of spec parts?

So Warwick thinks their machines are superior for their purposes? Good, who cares.
I for one would be just as impressed with their workshop full of robots or old school luthiers.
One is nearly ScyFy the other more History channel. Both are entertaining and probably educational if you're smart enough to recognize it.

Oh Come On! NO luthier is as consistently accurate as the machines are. Hand work is not better - it is just hand work. Trial and error is not a substitute for getting it right the first time.
You sure would not want your mobile phone or computer or auto engine to be hand fitted and assembled. The key is for the machine to be properly programmed.
When they are, you end up with something like the new Squiers that are gig-worthy and sell for less than $200, and the awesome new Warwicks.

And sure the wood expands and contracts, etc. but the better the starting point the less the effect.
