So how did the darkglass sound compared to your act? And here's my old Mopar.
The darkglass sounded good. In between my band and his there was a guy with a ripsaw dirty bass sound- it sounded amazing soloed with good clarity of notes but in the mix (3 piece band) he almost completely disappeared!
When we played our talented guitarist buddy stuck his head backstage after the first song and said “too much bass” haha. I had a clean punchy SD 1/4 pounder precision pickup sound in channel 1 EQ’d flat with the super high on and the super low off. Channel 2 had a big muff set medium dirty with the bass rolled way off. Both channels were set at 12:00. I rolled channel one back to 10:30 and got the thumbs up from my buddy who has a good ear.
I’m guessing my stage volume was overwhelming the sound reinforcement? The club had big bass bins and my svt-vr has an xlr out (clean signal or tube/pedal sound I dunno?).
Anyway I’m confident I had some grind and a strong thick bottom end.
The darkglass sounded great but not remarkable. Kind of like the soundgear he was playing through it. I would much rather run one than one of the underpowered G/K amps that used to show up as standard house backlines but I wouldn’t spend the cash on one unless I had to have their preamp sound. A tech 21 theough a peavey or crown/qsc whatever clean power amp is just as good for me.
I’m a firm believer that you sound like you and your fingers no matter what but I do like the ampeg enough to carry 200lbs of it to gigs. Class D weight must be nice.
