So sorry if this has been done before. But I have an opportunity to purchase a membership. I can SBL for life for $196. Or can do ebassguitar with James Eager for $147/year.

I know SBL is a better deal financially. I just wanna pick your brains and see what you thought.

I also been using Mark Smith over at talkingbass.net. He is fantastic. If SBL was like that teaching, it be a no brainer.

    Thanks,

    Dave

Scotts is a nice lifetime option... but not well focused on developing specific skills. For learning... I prefer the other 2. My opinion.

You used ebassguitar? Have any pros or cons to share?

Both Ebass and a talking bass offer good free stuff. They also offer a la carte courses for money. My recommendation is to first do all of talkingbass' free stuff then try the others too to see what moves you. I did eBass'30 day thing. Not bad.. but in no way comprehensive. Both talkingbass, how-to-play-bass and Ebass offer a lot if free songs. That's my real focus now.

I'd say go with SBL, because the courses are more in depth. Of course, there is a problem of not spreading yourself way too thin, i.e. jumping from one subject to another. However, if it is a lifetime option, you're in no hurry, exercise some discipline and pick one or two courses to work on at any time.

Watching Mark's live stream (talkingbass) on youtube right now. I really prefer the way he presents material.
