Opinions Ibanez vs Spector vc Fender

Hi there, this is my first post and I'd like to her your opinios recommendatios, advices, etc.
I have a Spector Euro LX, it's great bass, amazing, but a little heavy, also I have a Fender Jazz Bass Geddy Lee MIJ, I love Rush and you know it's a great bass, but the body is not confortable to me.
So I am thinking about to buy an Ibanez SR 2600, it is so light, amazing sound, the neck is perfect, so orgonomic.
... and sell Spector and Fender
What do you think about this?

The SR2600 will have a neck closer to a Jazz, and a body closer to the Spector - that's not a bad thing. It won't sound like either, though. But if you already like the sound of the Ibby, go for it.

I'm a Spector fan boy but Ibanez' Soundgears are great basses, especially the higher model #s and the Prestige ones. They're some of the best bang-for-buck bases you can buy.

As long as the modern, more articulate Ibanez sound is acceptable I don't think there is really a question. If the weight and body comfort are your main concerns, and you appreciate a fast, ergonomic neck with versatile electronics, the Ibanez SR2600 is a good candidate. And selling a heavier Spector and less comfortable Fender to invest in the SR2600 aligns with those priorities.

  • Decades ago I started with a cheap used J-bass clone going by the brand "Vester" which I still have and use it occasionally. It's quite heavy and it doesn't sound all that great but after 30+ years it's literally road worn and thus it looks good on special occasions! :D
  • Then I got an Ibanez SR1200VNF because it feels good, sounds good and is much lighter, making my backbone happy.
  • Then I got a Fender J-bass MIM fretless because… fretless! And it was just half price because, uh, "shop worn". But… rather heavy, again.
  • So I'm thinking about buying a spare neck for the SR1200 and let a luthier buddy defret it for me and turn the Ibanez into an optional fretless.
  • No experience with Spector whatsoever.

Pick the bass that feels most comfortable to you. That's the bass you will want to pick up the most and play often.

If it were up to me, I'd go with the Soundgear because those are some of the most comfortably "snuggly" basses I've ever played. I don't get along with Spector ergonomics and the only Fender I truly love is my Aerodyne PJ (traditional P and J basses feel bulky and clunky to me compared to sleek and ergonomic Soundgears).

Ibanez SR series is very comfortable to play, especially if you like thinner necks. Also, Ibanez has one of the most variety when it comes to construction and price range so you can never go wrong with them. I have their EHB1005SMS. Not a fan of the sound at all but the neck is surprisingly comfortable and is the lightest bass I own.

My other thought is (and this is more of a hassle) look for Spector that is lighter or a Fender with a different neck or body shape. Of course, the easy option is go for an Ibanez.

I have an SR1350B and it is an outstanding bass, but I would hesitate to give up my Fender Jazz Plus, or my Sire P5 (P bass clone), and just rely on the SR. There is something about the Fender basses that makes them essential, although they are not as comfortable to play as the SR. That aside, if you can only have one, go with the one that you find most agreeable. It's hard to beat the playability of the SR, or the light weight.

If the Ibanez has the playability that you want, and you like the sound, there's no reason not to get one.

I would try to keep one of the others for a backup, but that's just me.

It's tough to beat the neck and the ergonomics on a Soundgear. There's a reason that they've been around for almost 40 years. They're Ibanez's best selling bass line ever.

I would say sell the Fender . The Spector Euro LX is a great bass beyond !!!

So all of these a pretty different animals but there is one thing to keep in mind, the Spector and Fender are about as far at opposite ends of the spectrum as you can get. One vintage one modern (well relatively) and their design and tone reflect that.

The Ibanez does well to merge both from am ergonomics perspective and while ot can cop the vintage sound ot does lean a little more modern as well due to electronics and pickup placement. But the nice part about an SR is it's highly mod-able so tone wise you can always dial it in a little.

SR's are not always everyone first look, but for many people it's their final choice.

I can sure both Spector and Fender could keep their value better than Ibanez Sr2600.

Been own some ibby SR bass myself, but i sold them all and just love P and PJ bass, organic tone and playing feel.

If i want get a Ibby again, this one ~
