I use a Carvin MB12 for both, with an added 1X15 smaller ported cab when I need that bottom 1/2 octave extension and/or larger gigs. It is most versatile and I gig regularly with both with that setup with an fdeck on the front end between either the slab or the Full Circle. Both jazz/dance bands I play with really, really like the way the DB sounds, and I can carry everything in my Chevy Aveo hatchback.

Double Bass Opinions on doubler rigs?

Currently I am using an older Eden WT330...I haven't played through anything that stays as consistent when switching, on gigs when I use both double and electric I throw a preamp in front of the DB, but only to bring down the input. It has a very warm but incredibly clean sound.
For a while I was using one of Eden's new 1x10 cabs, but mine got a coil rub and I have to switch out the driver. I am thinking I may just drop an Eminence Neo in there, I am not 100% sold on the coax design. Before I had that I had great success with either an SWR Goliath Jr or an Eden D210xst. The only reason I ditched those two was the weight, but more and more I am learning that weight should not sacrifice tone...

I use an AI Coda or a Walter Woods with Bergantino HT112 (1 or 2 depending on volume needed). The Woods of course is not set up well for mikes.
As far as sound for the BG, my take is that any amp works for BG but not all work for string bass, so I've always gone for the string bass tone and let the chips fall where they may for the BG.

I agree with brianrost's thought that it's best to find the right rig for DB and find a way of finessing the electric bass sound.
I use either a Clarus or EA Micro for doubling into various combinations of Wizzy cabs.
With the Clarus, I can put DB or EUB into the input, with electric bass going into an outboard preamp like a ToneHammer that's plugged into the effects return.
With the Micro, DB or EUB goes into Ch. 2 that has an adjustable HPF, although I've never adjusted it
Either rig works well, with the Clarus a little beefier and the Micro a little clearer.

+1 I use Clarus/wizzy cabs and it's fantastic with DB. My EB is active and it's also good, but if it was passive I would use an external pre amp.
When I look at pics of the back of the Micro (and the Doubler) I only see one output jack. How do you use more than one cab?
For using two cabs, most cabs have two jacks on the back, so it's easy to daisy chain. In terms of impedance, it's the same whether connecting to the back of an amp or a cab.
