Opinions on Seymour Duncan Pickups

I think the SPB-1 is the split-style P bass pickup like it should be. I also have an Antiquity 1 split style P bass and a SC style P antiquity, the latter is a bit lame. The former is actually brighter than the SPB-1.

The quarter pounders are not for everybody, and often require drastic tone control. I don't think it is a good idea to use a QP as your first attempt at Seymour Duncan.

My main issue with SD pickups is the logo printed on the plastic. No like.

Yea, I dislike that about them too, but apparently you can call the company and ask them to ship you non-logo covers.

I have ordered 2 sets of SD SPB-1, and both came with plain black/ non-logo pickup covers.

I did not request that, but that's the way they came.

The SPB-2 (Hot) I used to use came with the SD logos on the covers.
