Opposite Day! Strings you hate.

Okay, not "hate", necessarily...every string thread I see is mostly people praising this brand or that. Personally, I can find things to like about most strings. I used almost exclusively GHS Boomers for years. Now my rounds are DR Lowriders or D'Addario NYXLs. I love anything Rotosound makes...MOST rounds I can find something I like about.

I'm newer to the flats game. Tried and liked Sadowskis, and liked them. Just finally tried EB Slinky Cobalt Flats, and I'm hooked. Going to put them on another bass too. Also just put some LaBella white/gold tapes on one and they are super versatile.

The only strings I've tried that I can say certainly I don't or didn't like were Elixers (didn't sound good and gave my bass dandruff), Slow Wounds (don't exist anymore), Pressurewounds (liked at first but love affair ended quickly) and I remember not digging TI jazz a long time ago, but I may give those another shot.

So, what strings do you dislike, and why?

There's pessimism, optimism, and realism. If the glass was filled half way than it's half full. If it was filled all the way and half was emptied, it's half empty.

Also, I hate boomers and daddario half rounds.

Anything from D Addario or Ernie Ball, unless you don't mind strings that die within a day of installation ...

Boomers are weird. They are OK for me at first. Then they die, but if you wait, they come back and are glorious. They'll do this cycle about three times. Jesus strings, lol.

Hate is too strong a word. However,i don't care much for Rotosound 66 Swing bass strings,which kind of sucks,because all my bass heroes played them.
Not too crazy about most daddario strings,elixers,or any other coated type strings,either.

I will play along.
My most hated string are TI's, they sound so good but feel like wet noodles.

DR DDTs. WAY too high tension, even de-tuned, unbelievably rough on the fingers, very short life.

I was given a few sets of Darco bass strings a few years ago. They're made by Martin, so I figured they might be worth trying.

They sounded like wet rope.

Rotosound 66 stainless..........................Go dead really fast and they munch frets! Other than that, they sound great for a few hours.

Yeah because I'm looking for that wet rope sound . Nah, it's good. I trust my fellow TBers.

Also, (and I own a Martin acoustic guitar that I adore and use Martin strings on it), I would not think that Martin knows much about electric basses, so wouldn't expect much from their strings.

I was kinda interested if I'd end up noticing a consensus of strings which are more commonly or universally disliked than average. But thank you for pointing out the stupid nature of my thread.
