So I find myself in the midst of some first world problems. I've got about $650 to blow on a bass and have decided with finality that I want a p-bass. My options are as follows

1: Order in a new MIM Standard with a maple board in LP Blue (and promptly replace the white pickguard with a black one);

2: Hover the board on here and wait until something (that ships to Canada) catches my eye;

or

3(which I'm leaning heaviest on): Grab a 2008 American Standard with a rosewood board in Candy Cola on the cheap (and promptly replace the white pickguard with a black one).

If you were me, what would you do?

P.S. I am a Montreal Canadiens fan, so red wouldn't be the WORST colour ever.

How badly is that cash burning a hole in your pocket?
I'd hit any and all music stores and pawn shops in your area this weekend.
You may find something that really speaks to you that you don't have to order in & wait for.

Option #2, or maybe do a Warmoth build?

A quick search resulted in: an unfinished swamp ash body $185.00, an unfinished maple neck w/rosewood board $180.00, maybe $300.00 for parts & finishing, less if you buy used, and bingo, there you are.

#2 if you're not in a hurry, #3 if you are. Actually, if you have put hands on #3 and it meets your standards (for playability and cosmetics), that would probably be my choice. Buying used without putting hands on (even on TB) in my experience is always a crapshoot. Personally, I wouldn't even consider #1 - the MIMs can't touch the '08 and up AmStds.
