Orange amps, help & advice

Hi there, I'm brand new to this board. I have been searching for answers on here and online but can't find the answer to my question so I thought I best join and ask.

Current gear; Eden WT800 / Eden 410 XLT / Warwick Streamer Stage 2 5-string / Fender Jaguar hot rod red 4-string / Ernie Ball super slinky strings / Tacoma Thunderbird acoustic 4-string. Plus a couple of other basses.

I've played bass for years touring with my last band, which I think my gear had a great sound for a more mellow rock band. I'm now playing in a dirtier sounding rock band, and want a more dirty sounding bass. I have been to some music shops and played all sorts of gear. What stood out to me was the orange terror bass 1000 with the sp410 the shop didn't have a ocb 410.

My question; I was looking at buying the orange terror bass 1000 and getting two sp410's (in black). However I'm currently unable to try a standard ocb 410 cab as shops near to me don't have them in stock can only order them in if I want them.
I have read people saying that the sp410 is actually not any louder than a standard 210. Which as much as I love the size of the sp's obviously the price is a big difference from buying a ocb410 or 2 sp410's.

So can anyone here shed some light on if the sp410 are worth the extra money or not? Money isn't really a problem but I play in a loud rock band against guitar stacks and I'm struggling against them at the moment. I'm talking more in a rehearsal situation as on stage everything is mic'd up and not an issue.

So is 2sp410 actually louder than a ocb410.

I instantly liked the sound of the orange terror bass 1000 threw the sp410 didn't have to adjust anything just moving the gain for how dirty I wanted it. But was the first amp I plugged into and instantly had the sound I'm looking for.

Tried to explain everything sorry if this is long. Any commets / advice is really welcome, thank you.

810 isn't an option for me as well due to it's size. At least not at this point in time.

My experience too. I was really interested in the sp series cabs when they came out. I didn't know much about the isobaric cab designs, so I read a bunch of stuff about them and tried them out. From what I could tell, they could go a little bit lower than the regular 410 (but I couldn't A/B them, so maybe not a direct comparison) and they were definitely not as loud.

Two SP410 cabs would maybe be a little bit louder in the low, low range than the OBC410, but that would be a far, far more expensive route.

To their credit, the SP cabs can swallow some absolutely crazy power for their size, so if you already had a huge amp, but also needed a small stage footprint and not a ton of stage volume (and money was no object), the SP cabs might be worth looking into.

Yes i have tried i few pedals but they never have the sound i'm looking for and massively suck out the bottom end.

So i'm currently leaning towards the OBC 410 over the SP410's, from whats been said.

Question is which head to go with it. I tried the Terror 1000 which was awesome, yet to try the 500 or AD200B... hoping to get to a music shop in town on the weekend to test it all out and hopefully find out the answer to which cabs and head all at once!

I think the AD200B sounds awesome, but I wouldn't buy it based on my prejudice against PCB mounted tubes. Just seems like it's asking for failure.

If you need monster amounts of volume, the TB100 and one OBC410 should get you there, and you could add a second OBC410 later. I generally think the TB500 is more than enough for everything I would use it for, but peoples' needs are different. Try them all out and let the tone decide.

what's a wmd sorry?

So the Terror 500 and 1000 have a different tone it's not just a difference in watt's and output? Would I run a high risk of blowing the OBC 410 cab speakers with the 1000?

Ricken- the biggest thing for me, is that I'm trying to make an amp sound a way the it doesn't do easily where as I plugged into the orange gear and was happy with the sound that came out barely touching a thing on the amp.

I've still got to sell my current rig but where's this cheap cab? Is it black?

Here's my rig in case you are intersted. TB1k + DNA DNS-410. Massive sound. This combo is worth looking into IMO.

So I tried out the gear today..

Bare in mind I had already been and played the Terror 1000 with a SP410 before today which started this all off..

So I started with the OBC 410, and tried both the Terror 500 and AD200 heads threw it, which in my opinion didn't sound all that different. The size of the OBC 410 was misleading to it's weight. It sounded good but I felt unsure.

I then plugged the Terror 500 into the SP410 and was taken back and reminded of what start this off... Absolute great tone, bass was shaking the shop and it had great punch. The weight difference personally is enough for me to also go for it as well..

I've still got to sell my Eden rig first but I am planning on getting the Terror 1000 and SP410 in black. Possibly get two SP410's.

I would still advise anyone considering the same to go and try it all out for yourself!
