Orange Amps

I am looking for a little help. I have 2 Orange bass amps . Both are similar . 50 watt BXT Crush smd a 100 Watt Crush BXT.
The 50 gives ,me a growing sound when set a certain way, yet I can't reproduce it on the 100 watt no matter how I adjust it but it does give a fantastic smooth sound.
Any thoughts on what may he wrong. There both unique just can't figure out why.Both bought used bit look brand new.

Sorry for the snarky response. Amps can produce a "growly" tone when the preamp is pushed to about 1:00. See if your larger amp has a preamp gain control to push the preamp to distort. if not, see if there's an overdrive function. It would help if you could post pictures of each control on the amps.

Thanks for posting pics. Please note on your 50 watt amp you're using a higher preamp level (volume, first on left) compared to a lower level on your 100 watt amp. Try to match the tone controls up. I know you don't have as many on the 50, but the extra on your 100 watt, just set them flat.
I'm going to try to call in help from a couple kind experts, @agedhorse and @Passinwind , I know they understand electronics 100 times better than I, and they are nice guys to deal with.

The design of the two preamps is quite different. You have the mids boosted on the 50 watt amp but set very different on the 109 watt amp. There are also presence and voicing controls that have circuitry attached that may greatly affect the tone no matter where they are set.

Sometimes, an amp's particular voicing might suit your taste better because of favorable happenstance.

Unfortunately I have zero experience with either of those pieces. And I'm not really a rocker, so growl from the amp side is something I generally work pretty hard to avoid!

lower wattage amp probably hits distortion quicker, there is preamp distortion and poweramp distortion, without being right there to hear it or fittle with knobs. if the preamp is designed to make distortion usually its labeled gain or distortion. so to get more distortion out of the 100 watt model just turn up the gain and control overall output with the master. otherwise since the 50 watt is lower power you could be getting actual output distortion possibly a mix of speaker distortion. lots of way to get distortion.
otherwise the 50 watt has a more simple tone section and you could just like the sound of the more basic tone section combined with whatever distortion your getting, whether its pre, amp or speaker distortion.
