Orange Amps

Hey, I'm new here and I've been playing bass for about a year, and whenever I have questions and I google them, a good percent of the answers I receive are from questions asked here and they turn up in the google search. Anyway, I couldn't find any details about the tone you can get from Orange Amps. I get little bits and pieces but, to me, it seems like Orange Amps have a certain cult following that never speak badly about them or anything.
I just want to know the pros and cons of buying one before I spend a decent amount of money to get one.
I'm trying out bass for a band that has influences like The Exploding Hearts, Avenue Rose, and a lot of "Powerpop" bands.

I really have heard a lot of good things about the amps, I just want some info about the pro's and cons.

Yeah, it's a new combo, I don't think they're out yet but, I found a website that you can preorder them off of and they're like $495 or something to that extent.
While, it may not be a huge amount of money, it's still quite a bit and I want get others opinions on their experience with Orange Bass Amps.

Well respected, well liked amps. Pricey in my opinion. Remember to try before you buy. Your fav artists may use Orange gear but you're probably hearing their big tube heads, so make sure to try out the model you want before buying.

Actually, most of my favorite bassist use Ampegs and the likes but, I've heard a huge deal of great things about Oranges. Plus, the price for the amp isn't that bad if Orange really is as great as what I've read about, plus it'd be under warranty for about three-four years and I'll only be using it for practice and small venue shows. I can't find any stores that carry them around me so, it's almost impossible unless I want to travel out of my way to Atlanta to go to a store and hear what it sounds like, plus, it hasn't came out yet, hints the reason I'm asking others about their experiences with Orange Bass Amps, and why they do or don't like them.

IMO that's pricey for a 100(?) watt SS combo - probably underpowered for rocking live with a band unless you're mic'd.

I'd spend $500-600 on the Bass Terror (or $1500 on a used AD200B if you've got the cash) and another $4-500 on the OBC 115 cab and you'll be in heaven - and loud enough to keep up with a band.

I'd pass on that combo for that price point

We were going to Mic it, and the only problem is I'm on a budget.
I'm trying to save for college and my other basses and **** were stolen by a "friend". So, I'm kinda short on cash.
My friend has a Gk rig that he got, and it sounds really amazing, for about $800 but he got it from a junkie.

I'm trying not to go over $1,000 bucks....and I'm trying to buy a bass and a bass amp.

You've forgotten cables/straps/accessories.:)

Personally, I'd hold out for a separate head/combo. Much more bang for your buck to be found there, especially if you're going used.

If the orange gas persists (and if you're anything like me, it will), you'll eventually run into a killer deal on their gear.

Oh, I have all that. =)
When he took the amp and bass, he didn't have the cables or my straps and picks and such.
I prefer a good amp/bass combo to get the tone I want as opposed to pedals and such, though they do come in handy in some situations so, it saves me a good bit of money not having to buy them, plus, for the music I play I don't really need them anyway.

It seems that for right now, I may have to settle on something less than Orange tonality but, will still give me more wattage and, in a sense, more bang for my buck.

My friend is thinking of selling me his 4X10 Cab and Head for about $700, and it's over 500 watts and it's only $200 more than I was going to spend on the Orange so, I might hit that up.

Are you sure it's not made in England?
Bc on the back it says
"Voice of The World, London, England."

Which, isn't the same as saying "Made in England." but, it just seems pointless to me to put something like England on something made in China, Mexico, America or wherever they make them.
=)

The point is making it look like it is made in England. Pretty much Orange's style.
