Contour looks like its ripped off of a GK. The EQ also starts from high and goes to low, something GK amps are notorious for, but for good reason: with the EQ Bob uses, it helps eliminate unwanted noise. I would definitely play this one before buying

Er, that's not unique to GK amps. SVT's also originally went treble-midrange-bass, going from left to right.

I'd absolutely love to have an Orange head and a cab or two. But I just cannot justify the price for my level of skill or the fact that I play in my office and the 250 Fender I have is just fine.....aside from dog hair sticking to it like it was welded there, but that is another story!

Their (Orange) gear is well built! And when I did play through an orange setup it sounded really, really good. I don't know how to describe the sound to you though. I played a Fender Geddy Lee and a MIM Fender through the setup i the shop. No effects. Good, clean tone with a bit of meat to it. But I did not play really loud eaither so no real chance of really driving the amp hard to get the tubes to do what tubes do best. Still......

Maybe I can recover the my Fender combo in Orange Tolex?

I have the Orange Crush B35. I loved it at first but honestly now I'm not a big fan anymore. I'd definitely suggest testing it out first and seeing if you can snag a used one. They are a pretty penny new and you could probably stumble across something really nice used for around that mark.

My Orange served it's purpose and we had some good times but I am going to be letting it go probably by the end of the year.

PS. To play devils advocate this one seems to have a lot of stuff mine does not so it could be really amazing.

Orange have an amazing reputation...for their TUBE Amps and High quality cabinets...not for their solid state amps from china or korea or wherever. People go crazy over Tube amps in general, especially companies with a rich history such as Orange. Buying an Orange Solid state amp is like going to a Steak House and Ordering Fish...
$1,000 can get you a much better USED Rig that will blow any solid state Orange out of the water...100 watts solid state...my Grandma plays on a louder combo. Any drummer that doesn't play Djembes will drown you out.
You want to look for Used gear, heads/cabs between 250-500 watts solid state. Before I got into Tube amps I had a lot of success with these heads/cabs and I spent way under $1,000
Peavey T-max 500 watts $350 2 channel solid/tube preamp section
Fender M-80 225? watts $150 Super Loud classic sound(think Led Zeppelin)
Carvin bx500 500 watts $300 5lbs and sweet tone
Check your local Craigslist for cabs or here...I've scored really sweet deals on cabs
1970 ampeg 8x10 $250 the end all for rock bass players, I've had Carvin, Peavey, Sunn Bass Cabs all 4 x10's for under $300 used.

Not everybody plays in places that have good PA's.

We were going to Mic it, and the only problem is I'm on a budget.
I'm trying to save for college and my other basses and **** were stolen by a "friend". So, I'm kinda short on cash.
My friend has a Gk rig that he got, and it sounds really amazing, for about $800 but he got it from a junkie.

I'm trying not to go over $1,000 bucks....and I'm trying to buy a bass and a bass amp.

You can get quite a lot IMO for $1,000 if you buy used. I have GK700RB head that is quite loud and can be had on the used market for a very reasonable price. The GK Neo cabs are very light and inexpensive. You might want to wander down to Guitar Center and check them out to see if they appeal to you.

All that said, I have the Orange 200 tube head and O115 previously mentioned. Its a wonder warm and thick sounding bass. I am not familiar with any of the bands you mentioned so I don't know what the tone is that you are searching for.

Pretty sure that is a Matamp one though, not really related to modern Orange, except for being orange.
