Well, they did it right.. no lip synching.

Kelly Clarkson sounded okay, and looked great in those pants.

Trace Adkins.. whatever, not my style..

Ashlee Simpson though. Freakin' hilarious. She sounded HORRIBLE. I mean.. not like a bit off. Not like the band was in another key. I mean..... If a Boston Terrier got kicked in the balls with someone blowing a dog whistle in his ear, it would have sounded more melodic.

Then, to cap it off.... She got booed pretty hard at the end. Camera panned off her face too quickly to see the reaction. Some people just dig their own graves.....

I "missed" Ashlee Chumpson. I only stopped to watch the first bimbo because I noticed that the vocals were really low and she seemed to be having problems hearing herself too as she was pressing her monitor into her ear. I kept watching for a few minutes to see if there would be a train wreck. If I'd known Chumpson was going to be on I would have watched that too with the certainty that there was going to be a train wreck. I could hear the booing in the end and I was wondering wha happened.

If you have a replay tV or a Tivo go back and listen to Ashley getting booed. You can faintly hear someone yelling "You Suck" that is priceless. The Replay TV just paid for itself with one horrible halftime show.

As much as I despise Ashlee Simpson, I felt compelled to watch her performance just to see how she does when she's really singing. When she got booed, it made my somewhat crappy day become great. One down, one to go (Avril)...

I have a good idea for a halftime show. You know the school bands that come with the team and play in the stands? They could bring them out on the field at halftime and have them perform instead.

Halftime shows usually have a high suck factor, and last night was no exception. I'm glad I was preoccupied with making some chicken and vegetable quesadillas for dinner and didn't see much of it.

Kelly Clarkson's mic snafu was at least reassuring in that it showed they weren't using tracks, which may have been out of the question anyway due to Ashlee Simpson's presence on the ticket. Just imagine another "my band started playing the wrong song!" incident.
