The Gibson cab and the Geddy Lee in the stand are no longer with me... The Ampeg gets sporadic gig-time... But, the Dano hits the stage more often than not lately!! Gotta get a few pix of the recently acquired 'blood-red' Dano, as these two are rapidly becoming my main players...

I don't think that's the case with everyone, some perhaps, but not all. I've been checking this thread everyday since I received my number and chime in when appropriate.
Could always just see how much they contribute to the conversation over a weeks time or so to see if they are truly here for the club or not. Just a thought.
The total cost of my current setup is less than it cost for my first bass. I think that's funny.
Just shows that I've passed that short time where I had a job and no bills to pay...man was that nice. lol.

I spent $450 on my first bass. That's not including amp, cable, strap, or gig bag. I wanted a nice bass to start on.
Then, I got a $110 SX P bass. The reason is because the tone is much closer to what I'm looking for. I spent a little over $200 modding the thing. After I was happy with the SX, I gave away my Ibanez SR405 to a friend at my church that needed a new bass. He loves it. I'm glad because he's getting more use out of it than I was.
Now I'm looking at getting an audio interface and eventually a nice cab. Right now I'm still playing through my little $70 RMS amp.

I've been playing for only a little over 2 years. Bought my first bass in March of '09.
Thanks to talk bass I have really developed an ear for bass. I can tell the difference between a Precision and a Jazz bass. I know what "lows", "mids" and "highs" sound like in regards to bass. I can hear the difference between "bright" and "dark" basses. Most of that is thanks to talk bass and part of it is thanks to going to music shops and trying lots of different basses.
I've gotten really particular about my tone, and the P bass just fits.
You kids crack me up...but I really do still "listen" to everything. This is my third post so I guess I qualify! I have been playing bass for 49 years. and still gig regularly. and I have 19 basses I think...haha
On another note if you are into blues come out to the Thurs. nite jam in Beaverton @ Hart Road Pizza. The bass host is a friend and all right nice "old" dude (like me) named George.
