Origin Audio Cali76 FET compressor (1176 inspired)

Holy crud! I had been thinking I could sell my TX for some pocket cash in the short term and just buy another one at any later date--but I guess that's not a plan anymore.

Looking forward to whatever new products they have coming down the pike though!

I really hope one of those products is a compact bass with tx.

Regarding the transparency of the Lundahl, it will honestly be in the realm of splitting angel hairs. Doubtless it will have "some" impact on the sound, but whether that impact is audible enough to be worth the size and price is an open question for the golden ears and most refined recording situations. My TX has the other, more colorful transformer, and even with that one I am reduced to the most unscientific terms of description, saying it sounds "nicer" or "smoother" with the transformer than without it... So that one is worth the size for me in my headphone world. But I assume the Lundahl is even more subtle to the point of pretty much not needing to audition it and drive myself insane trying to hear it. :)

I have a Cali Compact Bass and a Warm Audio WA76 to compare it with. I decided for the transformerless version, 'cause I liked all the other possibilities and the size of the compact (the HPF for example). The compact sounds very very good, no doubt. But simply for the beauty of it and Origin Effects being the only company selling a kind of credible 1176 clone with a transformer in pedal format. They shouldn't discontinue it!!! But client demand doesn't go along with my wishes and as I think about it again: I'm responsible 'cause I ordered the compact.

Is it possible to add a parallel feature to a TX and make it a TX-P kinda? Anyone know someone who could/would do this?

I love my TX but being able to mix my dry signal would be ever so cool - I know you can buy pedals to do this, but I was more curious about a mod..

.

Origin Effects does do mods on pedals.

Whether or not this particular mod can be done, you would have to ask them.

Also if it could be done, when you consider the cost of the mod and the shipping to England - $$$$

And if it could be done, it would violate their Limited Edition pledge.

All you need is an effects loop that lets you chose between parallel and serial. If your amp doesn't have one, some preamps offer that. I have a RMI Basswitch that has one serial and one parallel effects loop. Or sell the TX and buy a Cali compact bass...

Radial (Big Shot) and Xotic Effects offer such effect loops in pedal form for about 150,-. I'm sure there are cheaper ones. And you can use them for other purposes too.
