Origin Effects Bassrig '64 Black Panel hisses like crazy

My Origin Effects Bassrig '64 Black Panel I just got hisses like crazy. Why is this happening? None of the other pedals do this. It does it whether or not my compressor is on. It gets worse when I blend in the affected tone but does it regardless. It only goes away when I use a low-pass filter to basically take out all treble. It doesn't matter what bass I use, it hisses immediately before I've played a note.

Any thoughts?

PS I got it used but these things are sturdy and reliable, so I assume it's not damaged.

There’s too many variables. You need to switch out every cable attached to it one at a time, try a different isolated power supply, remove it from the chain completely and try it, then contact origin. No pedal is invincible.
This exactly. Try it in a minimal setup with known good components.
Power supply, bass shielding, quality of the power socket used, amp, cables. Everything could pose as an issue here and once it's all eliminated, Origin has a great customer service.

I recently sent in a second hand DCX bass that did not work properly. The very friendly customer service was able to trace the pedal back to Thomann, but the Thomann customer service (which is also great when you are the original customer) could do nothing without me providing an invoice, so I sent it to Origin.
All I had to pay for was the shipping from Germany to England. They fixed and returned it for free.

I haven’t tried that Origin pedal (I do have the other two Bassrigs though, and they are very quiet noise-wise), but the Fender tonestack that it is emulating has a pretty significant bump in the high frequencies if you have the Treble control at noon or above, so it will significantly amplify any hiss you have in your signal already- remember that the Fender tonestack is closest to neutral with the Mids turned up all the way and the Bass and Treble turned down almost all the way.

I don’t think “hiss” is a feature of the emulation, so if the pedal is actually creating hiss then I would suspect either a power supply issue or a ground loop issue (if you are using the DI try engaging the ground lift on the Origin).
