IME, hot rods can be a bigger GAS than basses. Everything is expensive. There's a saying: How much will it cost? Depends on how fast you want to go.

I suggest you watch auto related programs, read and join websites and forums, read magazines, study ads, contact manufacturers for info, learn how other people build cars.

Stop by hot rod shops in your area and chat up the guys a bit. Visit car shows.

Probably the most important thing is to determine which tools you need to buy, rent, borrow, or build. Tool costs have killed many a project.

Related to tools is: which jobs will you pay others to do? And how will you judge their work?

Safety is important too. A Properly raised and supported car will extend your life. Knowing basic electronics is good.

Stuff like that.

But yeah, I've been an enthusiast for a long time. Since I was a kid really, I even owned my own garage at one time. My buddies have Hot Rods, we go to the drags up in Pomona, go to shows and all that stuff.

But yeah your right, its huge money....so there lies the problem

On another note, another buddy of mine just got into sky diving....he's trying to get me to go, but I really like living

-Spanish; it's my second language, I love speaking it, first took a course in 9th grade, now I just graduated with a degree in the language!

-Animals; my corgis and chinchilla are so great.

My single biggest hobby is reading. This includes the acquisition of books. Although, that has slowed considerably with the advent of my note book purchase a few years ago. It's now taken the place of holding a real book as oft as not. It's not more satisfying, but it is worlds more convenient and I can read in any light conditions.

I also play frightening amounts of open world video games while listening to podcasts. Helps smarten me up to counteract the games killing my brain cells.

What else do you like to do besides playing bass?

Looking at really cool cars for one, and thank you for your post.

I also like to bike, hike, spend time with the wife kids and grandchildren. Some travel, cooking, more importantly, eating, managing our finances, and my absolute favorite, finding a really quiet place on a sunny day, with a slight breeze, just listening to the birds, and drifting off to sleep.

When I'm not spending money on basses, I'm usually buying Blu-rays/DVDs. My current title count is 2268. So many, that I needed to buy Collectorz software and related CLZ iPhone Apps to keep track of them. I used to come home with a bag of purchases only to discover I bought a duplicate title.

My issue is that my wife granted me one room as my man cave, which I am using as a Home Theatre / Music Room. As I accumulate more instruments and movies, I'm running out of space to put stuff!

One wall is floor to ceiling DVD shelving and it is already filled. The back wall has 4 comfortable seats to watch movies. Another wall has a few more shelves for movies and another shelf holding home theatre components. The other wall is awkward as it is directly beneath a bay window so I have 7 odd-angled panels which is the area I would like to hang my instruments. My instruments are currently sitting in 3 Warwick RockStands holding 7-instruments each.

I've owned a few Camaros and still have a 79 Z/28 and an 81 Sport Coupe.

If you go the second generation (1970-1981) Camaro route, Invalid Link Removed is the best source for info on those cars. I'm over there, same username as here.
