Ouch this hurts!!!

I totally agree not all kids are morons and we shouldnt group them like that but as a whole todays youth is not very intelligent.

It's called instant gratification, not working for what they have, too much using a TV for a babysitter, too much video games, too much holding back on dicipline 'cause it might hurt their feelings a little bit and on and on. Anyway, back on topic.

im 18 and i cant believe he would trade all that in for a crate head. believe me, my guitard tried to talk me into buying crate ( he got a blue voodoo then a week later traded up to a mesa triple rectofier) the only thing i like new and shiny is my instrument. i love old amps and getting that vintage sound lol ur nephew should be hit over the head with his guitarists ego haha. i say shame on the associate at the music store that allowed him to do that.
Also- i am spoiled when it comes to gear. but i appreciate what my mother does for me a lot. im glad to have such a supporting parent

Being he's still a minor, your state may have some laws that would allow the child's legal guardians to force the store to swap the old gear back...

lol

i like that!

seriously, go to the store, look at the asking prices, and tell the guys they are pr*cks for ripping off a 16 year old kid.

than post on your local craigslist at how they are bad sales guys and trick kids into swapping worthy gear for Craps.

allthough, its not THEIR fault that HE made the trade

I would though, do like posted above.

Go to the said store and look at the prices of the equiptment.

add up all the asking prices, and see how it compares to the actual amount of the new Crap gear he got...oh i mean crate sorry
Ohh I can just imagine as the rack head and tuner all came from that little music shop at one time or another. and i know how much that crate cost cause we saw it last month and he said he wanted a head and cab and i told him wait and we will get something better. I could have bought that crate setup for a tad bit more than I paid for the ampeg cab alone. cause im freidns with the onwer. I could get my stuff back at cost if i wanted but like I said it was collecting dust.

Ouch.

I mean honestly, I'm only 17 and I've had more empathy than to trade in a gift like that since I was like 4.

Crate isn't terrible for guitars, but I'd take a Behringer setup over Crate for bass any day.

Some people...:scowl:

It not the gift im mad cause all of us gear heads have traded our gitf gear for something we like. but the point is he bought crate!!!! he should have known!!!! I told him dude you had a rack tuner. he said oh well uncle this one had a built in tuner/ it had 3 little lights on top. hahahaha lmoa

Well, what's done is done.. You did something very kind for him, and he did something completely stupid- and now he's gotta live with his mistakes- especially considering he's 16 and probably wont have the money for that kind of gear for a good long time.

Ouch.

+1. I'm also 17, and I wouldn't dream of doing something like that

I have to agree...I've always had a problem selling gift gear until a good waiting period. Especially a nice package that's totally pro and capable of handling big situations. I still have the Fender bass my parents got me for my 16th birthday. Gone through a lot of changes since then, but I still have it.

EDIT: I did sell some stuff they got me when I was younger, but hey, I used it for a couple years at least!

lol im 17 and i also play death metal and if someone was would give me a gift like this i wouldnt even think of tradin it (even for a good trade). Even know im only one year older ive been playin bass for about 6 years and i gotta say that this kid has to learn alot about great gear, even if it is used who cares along as it works.

Once he realize the ****** deal he made he is goin to be kickin himself for ever

Alright guys, I am only 16, and lemme tell you all something!! I'm not just saying this to fit in, this is my honest opinion. I have played through a Crate amp, which was phenomenal until the acting up kicked in, but that's beside the point!! The point is that I would KILL to have an Ampeg cabinet in any condition. Not to mention the head and tuner, which would put me closer to completing my first full-stack. No offense, but what an idiot. Seriously, I work in a grocery store to buy my equipment and I will never be able to get what that dude traded in. WOW!! I agree with JimmyM, get your gear back!!
