Overdrive and Fuzz in one pedal

Hi,

I searched around but the keywords were too generic for me to find anything.

I'm looking for a pedal that can produce overdrive or fuzz as a choice. I don't want it to where there's a knob I can turn to move from overdrive up to fuzz. I'm envisioning a pedal with two switches, one for overdrive, one for fuzz, with independent controls. So set one light, one heavy, and I can choose by which side of the pedal I stomp.

Am I asking too much?

Empress makes the Multidrive, but I believe one foot switch toggles the effects and the other is a bypass for the entire pedal.

You could do something similar to what I do. I have a Devi Ever Truly Beautiful Disaster fuzz that has an effects loop and I run my Fulltone OCD in it. I can engage both independently or have them both running at the same time.

I found the TC Electronic Nova Drive. Something like that only still available and preferably much smaller.

I'm betting at the end of this thread the answer is going to be to get a pedal for each. But we'll see

Dave Hall's VT2 Twin Bass could be another option.

You can get light to heavy overdrive with the blue channel and if you crank up the gain and OD on the red channel and engage the colour switch you're well into fuzz territory. You can then toggle between the two. I picked up a VT2-Twin-EQ-Std-Bass secondhand last year and I use it all the time - a fantastically versatile pedal.

Sounds like the OFD may be what you want. The OFD can store two presets. Each controlled by it's own footswitch. You can easily select one for fuzz or the other for overdrive.

I tried to copy the link but failed. Search Chicago Stompworks on Reverb.com. He makes exactly what you describe. I have the Maestro MFZ-1/Red Llama clone. He has a few different dual pedal combos for sale right now. Great build quality/ service for the price.

For sure @fuzzrocious!! The rat/cat tail with 2nd dist mod is a total od on one side and a very gnarly almost fuzz on the otger. So good. The low end response it the poopie too.

There's the big game bedlam drive too. It's got one side for OD and then the otger side is a boosted OD. Now, you won't get the two separate volumes or gains for both sides, but that boost circuit in that pedal is HUGE. Adds a ton or gain and bass on top of your OD. It's pretty awesome.

One of the Cog Effects pedals might do that for you. Either a dual Knightfall (at high gain it is close to fuzz), or a Grand Tarkin Mk2 (at low gain it is more like an OD) would cover your needs.

The Source Audio OFD does EXACTLY what you're asking for, and the new Aftershock, with some very easy, mild tweaks will also accomplish this. Both of these are pretty readily available and, even new, are reasonably priced...

If you want lighter Rat-style distortion for your overdrive, and heavier Rat-style distortion for your fuzz, then yes (likewise for the Demon, but replace "Rat" with "OCD").

Ryan's also willing to combine his pedals, though. So if you wanted to put a Cat Tail/Demon for your OD and a Grey Stache (which is a legit fuzz, modeled after a Big Muff) in one enclosure, you could go that route. Just depends on what you're looking for tonally.

First thought that came to mind is the Source Audio Bass OFD. I used it for years for exactly this purpose - overdrive on one switch, heavy distortion or fuzz on the other, each configured to taste.

The Aftershock can do it too, but will require some peripherals (e.g. External foot switch or MIDI + Hub) if you want a second switch to access additional presets. However, it has more deep editing capability than the OFD and the same core sounds (plus many more).

Fuzzrocious makes some awesome pedals and would be my suggestion for a custom OD/Fuzz combo pedal.

If you want even more built into one unit, you could also look at the Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig. It has a SansAmp , fuzz/octave/filter circuit, chorus, boost, and a tuner all in one multi-switch enclosure.
