overdrive/fuzz quest part 2

Three notes for John:

(1) This thing is phenomenal. Great looking, great build quality and it sounds tremendous. Makes me realize exactly how dumb I was to sell my BJFE BBBOD as it sounds exactly like I remember. Tons of gain on tap and I don't remember if my old one had that much volume available.

Hi Jared,
I thought that you'd like it, and i'm really glad that you confirmed it! ;)

(2) Damn, that's a huge rattler!
yep, it's the biggest one I've ever seen and I've seen ALOT of them.

(3) Nice Fuzz Factory and I'm not surprised you modded it. I found it a bit "uncontrollable" on bass, though that's part of why some guitarists love them. Matt Bellamy from Muse has a FF installed IN his guitars mostly to easily get squeals and feedback.

yeah, the mod actually is capable of taming it and now can be used as a standard, but very variable overdrive/fuzz just by flipping the switch.

Hi Jared,

Definitely, thanks again.

On it's own the Blueberry is very fat, dark and vintage sounding which is why I dig it. But turning the Submarine's tone knob to the right gets it into very modern, aggressive scooped sounds. I'm going to keep comparing but I'm already considering selling my B7K.

What exactly is the Submarine affecting the sound? The tone knob is much more similar to the Timbre knob on a Thunderfunk amp or "Taste" knob on a TecAmp it seems.

here's another great sounding overdrive/distortion pedal for bass. the barber Gain Changer:

it captures the sounds from three of Barber's previous and very popular pedals (the LTD, LTD SR and unLimiTeD), all in one compact pedal. the upper left switch is a three way 'eq' switch, and the upper right one selects between heavy distortion (to the left) and an overdrive (to the right).

when you are handy like John.

or you just got a brand new Heritage SVT like somebody else we know.

I can't complain however as i have 2 new basses about to show up at my front door. A Bruce Johnson reproduction scroll bass AMB-2 and a Monarch standard from the boys in Brooklyn. :hyper:
After all you've been through, I hope you enjoy every second with them, bro!

This guy is the man of bass overdrives. It's already been a year and a month since this quest started and still this man never fails to deliver.
Man, if it will be on Guiness records, it will take a massive individual effort to break this guy's number of individual builds.
Hands down on you sir Johnk.
