OVNIFX Smoothie Compressor

Why knobless? Also, is Bongomania involved?
Knobs are optional on the Smoothie but come as standard equipment on the Super Fatty Coconut Deluxe Smoothie. The main difference between the standard and deluxe models being..... well.... knobs.;)

Sorry, couldn't help myself, been up most the night with a sick kitten and I'm no longer thinking clearly.

In all seriousness this is a very interesting development.:bassist: Good luck to Bongomania in this endeavor! I'm sure he will have mucho support from his talkbass brethren.

How did I miss this thread? :) Thanks Frank for taking notice.

The knobs are now on. The photos without knobs were from the guy who built these for me, and he didn't happen to have a good knob supplier. I'll post a photo with the knobs soon. The pedals were built by my friend Leszek who was the engineer/designer at Exar effects.

The choice of a two-position threshold switch instead of a threshold knob was the best compromise Leszek could come up with between his circuit design and my wish-list of features. I would have preferred a knob with a wide range, but it wasn't feasible in this case.

It is based around the CA3080 like the dreaded Ross/Dynacomp, however Leszek managed to give it a nearly ruler-flat frequency response and very low noise. The Tone knob is a tilting EQ very much like the one in the Diamond comp. It has an LED to indicate the amount of compression.

Essentially it combines some of the best qualities of the Wampler and the Diamond, in a smaller size.

I only just received the pedals a couple days ago, so I have not yet put up a page advertising them for sale or going into detail. But soon! Very soon.

Thanks for the interest!

More importantly, can we expect a detailed review on your site?

I won't know if it's worth checking out otherwise.

I think this guy has earned a bit of respect considering his hundreds of compressor reviews, countless hours working through them, and his dedication to helping us bassists find one that fits us. Maybe it's just me, but whatever he comes out with will probably be golden and I would want to be first in line to check it out.

Another subtle joke would be to remind everyone that bongo has stated on his site to stop requesting ross type reviews because he's sick of them :)

Although, he did just review the SP Compressor...
