I don't know how yall play bass but dont notice a drastic change in string sound after 3 or 4 months.

I don't know how yall play bass but dont notice a drastic change in string sound after 3 or 4 months.

and one set TI flats on each since 1998.

a little OT, but is that a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever? My wife and I are adopting one next year!
I had the exact same situation (except they weren't drastically different), so I sold 2 of the case sleepers earlier this year. Much happier with just 2 of my mains now.

This one outweighs my entire collection.
I have 8 basses ./ 4 were gifts from my lovely wife, a Danelectro Longhorn , a vintage Gibson EBO , an Ibanez acoustic bass, and a Rogue 5 string - 1 was a gift from a good friend , a Sire V3 . I will always cherish ,use and keep these 5 as I know they cared enough to give them to me. 3 more basses i bought for myself over the years , a Rogue violin bass , a Hofner icon violin bass , and a Fender Roadworn p bass. The violins cause i love the Beatles and the p-bass cause my 1st real bass 50 years ago that i no longer have was a p and this one is the closest in feel and sound as any Fender ive played. Even though im 68 im still very busy, still work full time ,play with several local bands ,play in 2 different church bands for services and lovingly take care of my wife who has always stood by me and she has special needs. i enjoy these 3 other basses and plan to keep them. Playing these basses and cleaning,adjusting,modding, changing strings on them gives me much joy and pleasure and is like peaceful therapy for me,so just like dogs ,if you love em youll take care of and play with em all.

Question, is anyone here a carpenter or mechanic for a living?
Do you multiple or crossover tools that perform essentially the same job?

I also have seven basses. I keep them safe and clean in their cases. I have 2 out (hanging on the wall) at any given time. I might rotate every couple months, as the mood takes me. I like it this way. I don't have dead strings and the worst thing I can say is that the cases take up alot of space (closets, etc.).

I have 3 Js and three Ps. Since I don't play some as much as others and split time between some, I find that I don't have to change strings as often as if I had one or two. The only thing I may spend more time on is routine maintenance. But Fenders are so low maintenance anyways.
