Whatever you can do will help. People say all kinds of things about specific brands & models, but if you have some way of connecting that to what you've heard with your own ears, so much the better.

We're shortly going to be adding a single 15 sub.

We've never been asked to turn down once. We've never been asked to turn up either.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I just came across these on my local CL. Did a google on them and not much info except the spec sheet, looks like they're loud! But would these be fine in lieu of smaller mains and subs? I know these won't be as portable obviously, but if I wouldn't have to worry about subs, that might pay off in the long run. Thanks for everyones patience and help.

These look like the PRX525...

Although not bad, 2x15's generally won't give you true lows like subs would do nor have the clarity that a 1x12" + horn has. I wouldn't even put kick and bass on these. Not easy to carry either.

If you want to stay JBL go for a pair of PRX618's and a pair of PRX612's.

Electrovoice's ELX118P's and ELX112P's are also a great option.

I know it's more money, but "buy once, cry once".

Excellent, thanks! No, I am not looking just for JBL's, I am open to other brands, but I want to go the powered monitor/main route.

I work for a company that does AV production and most of what we use is Bose and JBl (and community). If It were me in a small "club" band.... I'd get either 2 of the new powered 15" JBl eons or another tripod mount JBL trap and use probably just a single 15" sub for your kick. I'd mic the kick, snare, one overhead (two is optimal), hi hat, and mics for the bass (DI is usually best for bass IMO) and guitar rigs (Of course you want vocal mics for however many there are too). And as far as boards go? We have a couple soundcraft 16 channel counsels that seem pretty reasonable but I have no clue what price is on them. Soundcraft is delicious and then I'd go for an Allen and Heath, or Yamaha for the smaller price point boards. I found that I prefer the sound of shure over a lot of other mics as well. But that's just IMO and my two cents. But the two jbls and one sub SHOULD be more than enough to get a good comfortable volume through a small club I'd imagine and its quality gear and the service from them is astounding so there's my opinion!

Well, I think I am going to finally pull the trigger on some new JBL Eon 15xt's (pair) to start, but it looks like they're backordered till the end of the month. We are still a few months a way from gigging, so I have time to worry about monitors.
