P Bass body routed for J pickup configuration

Maybe you can help me. I recently bought P bass body that is routed as a J bass - 2 single coils. I'm not sure what to do about covering the control cavity. A j pickguard won't fit, and a P pickguard won't work because of the split coil. I need a P pickguard that is cut for single coil in the neck, or just a control plate that'll fit a p body. Any ideas?

@Bassturb8r X are you located in the USA? Guitar Parts Factory carries P bass custom control plates like this: PBTP-C Chrome Custom "No Pickguard" Control Plate for P Bass & Similar Chrome and black. You could go without a pickguard then.

They have a variety of control plates available, but you'll probably have to do some custom fitment if you want to match one up to an existing PG.

Looks like this thing never had a pick guard. I'd definitely just go for a control cavity cover.

For a similar project, I just got a sheet of cheap black acrylic can cut out a shape to cover the control cavity and drilled the necessary holes in it. It's really easy to work with, and my DIY results looked fine to me. Depending on your budget/approach (is this a fun project bass, or a big budget make your own dream bass), it'll work fine.

A DIY or DIM (did it myself) parts P Bass with J pickups.

I bought the guard from WD. They offer various p/u cuts on their guards.

I vote for the control plate option. The Guitar Parts Factory/WD Music one is nice. It doesn't normally work for P basses since it has an extra hole, but now you've got two pickups, so it should be perfect.
