P bass pickup recommendations needed.

I'm building a Pino Palladino clone bass.
I have the body and neck, and I've sources a vintage looking sctatchplate.
I need a pickup though. I'm going to use pots and capacitor as close to the original as I can find.

Pickups I'm looking at are the Fender original, I'm not sure if.there's any difference between that and the 62 reissue pickup. I'm also investigating the Seymour Duncan SPB-2, or maybe one of the antiquity models.

Which of these would be best ?

I am just about to put together a bass with these. It will be wearing TI's too so I can at least compare it to my Pino (as I remember it at least). The thing I remember most about my Pino is the neck though.

Should be finished over the weekend.

+1 on that. The classic, old school Fender Precision pickup sound is the "tastes like chicken" tone of the bass world ... it'll do the trick for just about any style of music and the Fender 62 RI is about as good as any of them and is a relative bargain compared to many of the boutique offerings out there. I have an SD SPB1 on one of my basses and it's a good one, too ... though I'd give the edge to the Fender '62 RI.

I get the SPB-1 before I used a 2, heck I'd even use a 3 before a 2.

2's are pretty hot to my knowledge, good for harder tones. I have a set sitting right here but I have yet to put them into a bass, I have experience with the 3's, love them but not vintage sounding, and the 1's. I loved the SPB-1 Vintage's, they had a very good old school thump, I put them in a P bass that I wanted to make into a soul machine, they worked great. They even use cloth wiring, how sweet is that!

The 2s are overwound, a lot. The 3s are wound more like 1s, but with oversize pole pieces.

I have used Fender Originals (cloth wire) and '57 RI pups and I like them very much. I have a couple/few basses with HW1 (or One) pups that are dark even with the tone wide open. I am not liking those very much. The last few I've done were all Fender Originals and they have the sound that I like. They are not as cheap as they used to be though so some of these fancy new pups are not, relatively-speaking, too expensive anymore in my opinion.
I am excited to see how these new Aggie's sound.

Wow, thanks for all of your replies.

I'm leaning towards the Fender pickups, mainly because they're a hell of a lot cheaper. The Aguilar pickups are way too expensive in the UK, and US dealers aren't allowed to sell them abroad.

What if any is the difference between the originals, and the '62 reissues ?
