p-bass vs j-bass

the effort to find a cheap and unique bass that also sounded awesome was too great so ive decided to just get a standard mexican made fender...

BUT DO I GET P-BASS OR J-BASS?

please help..?

But seriously, this topic has been discussed to death. And different in feel and sound is described a lot.
Search function is your friend.

Buy the one you like, try them out.

If your into rock and roll type music the P-bass will get you a great fatter tone. If you into funky style music or slap stuff the Jazz might perform better there.

But you should try them both. The feel is different. I personally love the sound of the P-Bass but the neck is a little big for my small hands so I went with the Jazz and i`m very happy. It as a very thing neck which makes faster runs a little easier.

buy two squiers: a classic vibe jazz and a classic vibe P.
many here ay those squiers sound as good or even better than mexican fenders.

If there's a store nearby that you can go to, do that. Seriously. Try out the Jazzes and the Precisions and make sure you also try out *every thing else in your price range*, including (especially?) any used basses. Buy what feels best in your hands.

And don't be afraid to go in there not knowing how to play. That's how I bought my first bass and the salesman I talked to was not only pretty cool about it he was also pretty helpful. I ended up with a Jazz and have now owned three of them

If you keep up with it for a while you'll have one of each anyway and, yes, I *do* have a Precision now as well.
