p-bass vs j-bass

I have both, and the way I would describe them is the P growls and the J sings....I cant help but think of the P as a guy and the J as a lady. Make sense?

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that there aren't too many P vs J threads. As this argument has been going on without a definitive answer for years, I think it's a valid question. It's a question that needs to be discussed.

We should probably just sticky a Precision vs Jazz megathread at the very top of the forum with a detailed layman's faq of the differences (nut size, pickups, etc) and similarities as the first post. Maybe also add in the Jaguar, Stingray, and Thunderbird for illustrative purposes...

The same gos for vids on youtube. I've tried t find videos of comparison between both and I haven't found any (except the video with the new classic vibe squiers)

Yet, I'd be willing to bet the "I get lost in the mix with my Jazz Bass, how do I eq" threads outnumber the "I get lost in the mix with my P" threads 10 to 1.

buy two squiers: a classic vibe jazz and a classic vibe P.
many here ay those squiers sound as good or even better than mexican fenders.

ABSOLUTELY, just as good as MIM, maybe better. Or Vintage Modified from Squier. Love the VM Jazz.

This seems to be true. Jazzes can get more trebly, Precisions have mor low-mids, however either should have enough mids to sit properly in the mix.
