I would say that next to Gibson basses, I think Fender Ps are the best looking out there. But I am extremely against boutique and coffee table looking basses, or anything exotic looking in general. The P bass sounds great and has the classic look.
how can you be "extremely against" a bass?
She may be boring but she is worth more than any bass you have...![]()

Talent doesn't come with the gear you use, let's hear you use that baby.
I've been using it for the last 30 yrs. Can you not see the Mojo...:sly:
Give the OP a break. If that's his opinion, he's entitled to it. I love P's and J's. Personally, I think a Jazz is more aesthetically pleasing than a P, but that's not to say that I think the Precision is NOT aesthetically pleasing. They're both classics, and my absolute favorite basses. But some people like chocolate, while others prefer vanilla. Blondes or brunettes. Sports cars or pickup trucks, etc. Me, I can see merit in all of them.
If he finds Precisions boring-looking, that's okay. He's got a right...
Until you've played a P bass in a gig situation on a really big PA system, you should reserve judgement. A P bass pushing 50KW worth of subs is...... Well, I can't post what I think here, but it's pretty darn cool.

Amen Brother.
I believe that many posting on TB have not had the opprotunity to play on a big stage at high volume and thus do not have a frame of reference for what the "old, outdated, boring, et al" gear can do and how awesome it is.
It's like having a muscle car and only driving it at 45 mph to the grocery store and back.
Pity.![]()
