The G&L Tribute SB-2 is quite a nice PJ in that price range. I'd highly recommend giving one a whirl.

As noted earlier, the Yamaha BB's are very nice for the money as well.

Fender Zone or Lyte. I just got a used zone, nice skinny neck, 22 frets, was a gift, but I think like 250 or 300. sounds good.
