I've got a bit of a doozy here.
I have a P-Bass I've been slowly modding: fretless conversion, DiMarzzio P pickup, routing and adding a humbucker.
The wiring has given me lots of trouble. I used to have volume/tone for the P pickup and volume-volume for each coil of the humbucker and that worked fine. (stacked pot-pot- pot)
I've again changed the wiring and have tried for a Volume/Tone-Volume with an On-On switch for parallel to series on the humbucker. (stacked pot-pot-switch)
My problem is that the switch and volume for the humbucker work fine, but only when the stacked pot is off. In fact, both controls (p pickup volume, tone) on the stacked pot do not work (they used to, before wiring change). Can anyone see why?
I can see why the tone may not work, as I used a V/T - V/T jazz bass wiring diagram, and each stacked-pot controls tone for just one pickup.
Possible things I may do in the mean time:
1.Add another stacked pot to stay true to the jazz bass diagram.
2.Drill another hole in the cavity and do 3 single pots and a switch. I'd do a more traditional volume-volume-master tone. (I'd prefer not to add another hole)
3. Wait patiently for some smart people to point me in the right direction.
