I have tried TI flats with everyhting and I can't really use them on any bass I own.I can't answer. I own both. They're different. I prefer the J (with dr sunbeams rounds) right now, just because I haven't reached yet the sound that I want from the P with TI flats. And I prefer the J neck at the moment, since I switched from guitar not so much time ago...
Tort is my favorite. Classic. Looks great on sunburst and natural basses. Not so good on other colors.
To me, tort looks like bloody vomit on everything. And yes, I know first hand what bloody vomit looks like. It looks a lot like tort.Tort is my favorite. Classic. Looks great on sunburst and natural basses. Not so good on other colors.
That makes you P...I love my brooklyn octoberfest! Just saying.

+1 on the SB-2. Neck always 100%. I actually used the bridge volume as you describe.I'd suggest trying a G&L SB-1 or SB-2 if you get a chance. Something about those Split MFDs produces more clarity but with all the punch.
On the SB-2 you only have two volumes. The bridge volume is supposed to be thought of as a tone control. It's not meant to be a hybrid, it's just the design. Only put the bridge volume at 100% if you want a mid-scoop, otherwise 90% bridge is the most I use for adding top-end.
+1My personal preference as far as components is concerned - P body, P and J pickup combination, thin profile J neck. That is my perfect bass.

this is the one for meP and J pickup combination, thin profile J neck. That is my perfect bass.
I think if I were going to have a PJ, it would be reverse P in bridge position and J in neck position.
