P vs J: 2016

Nothing bad about the J's but I've always been a P user so P still and always will be P for me.

I actually use the PJ more because it's my main bass in my band but the jazz is a little more of a pleasure to play and in IMO sounds naturally a little better so I voted Jazz.

I so much want to love Precision Basses, but it just doesn't seem to be happening. I much prefer the playability and sound of a jazz bass!

I have to respectfully disagree with the people saying you can get a P sound by soloing the neck pickup of a J. You can get in the neighborhood, but there is always something missing. If you are ok with close to a P then it will work for you, but it doesn't for me.

+1 A jazz bass with the neck pickup soloed is not a P bass.

I own both... but, I own more P's Than J's .....So, I say P's!!

#1 is burst, maple, tort, flats.
#2 is fiesta red, rosewood, tort, flats.
#3 is TBD, rosewood, TBD, probably flats.

I voted P, but actually I have 2 PJs - a Warmoth PJ4 with narrow J neck and no dots on the board (P body) and a USA Fender P5 with Nordy J bridge pup. You need a third category for PJ IMO.

I like both ....J for the neck and P for the fatter sound. I tried a PJ and felt they were OK.
