They more and more look like Fender.

well the finally have a P and J style of bass but until that, they always used their special pickup with the selector switch which is quite nice actually.

i've had problems with neck wonkyness on my fender family j basses, both mexican and some japanese ones
this could be due to the extreme humidity shifts we get up here in sunland north of LA
hopefully in the future i will be able to get a g&l jb-2 with the same neck as my super stable sb-2

no i'm not saying every single mim, cij, or mij fender or squier has neck wonkyness, just the three i 've had

If the choice is between a true Fender P or Fender J then it is a very hard choice. I prefer the P tone but J neck. If I can have some liberty to choose a bass that produces the Precision sound, then my answer is P (well, G&L LB-100 actually).

Everytime i try a jazz bass i get fustrated finding my tone.
Everytime i try a p/j it dosent sound right till the bridge pickup is almost off.
So its always p basses for me.

Well, okay, here's my honest imput.

Everytime I play a J, I like the tonal clarity but miss the punch that a P gives.
Everytime I play a P, I love the punch it has bit miss the tonal clarity that the J has.
When I play a PJ, I feel like I'm playing a horrible mutation of a bass guitar.
