Padauk isn't that oily, not sure where you got that, it's fairly easy to prep for gluing and for finishing with a simple alcohol ore acetone wipe before gluing or just a quick surface sand. Not sure why you had a problem with blackwood which requires the same prep as any rosewood. Dewax, Deoil, wipe and finish.
