PA subwoofer recommendation, please

I'll be in Walla2 (i'm hip to the lingo) Friday night, what should I check out? Saturday night we play the Powerhouse theatre. Won't be in LaGrande saturday morning but you'll have a good crowd, they do a great job of bringing people in.

Post your make and model of powered mixer, then we'll know your crossover capability (if any) and if you need a powered mixer (probably).

Do you have facebook or band webpage I can keep an eye on? I'll try to get to one of your shows soon since you are so close!

https://www.facebook.com/#!/bIGfONTbLUES is our Facebook page, but we have been doing so many private parties and such that we haven't updated our schedule in a while. We have some time off after this weekend (our wives are very pleased about this) so our next gig is October 10 at the Sinclair winery tasting room on Main in beautiful downtown Wally World. My buddy Gary Hemmingway is playing there https://www.facebook.com/SinclairEstateVineyards/events#!/events/1463224173951557/ this Frday evening from 7 - 10. Sapolil https://www.facebook.com/SinclairEstateVineyards/events#!/groups/livesapolil/ is pretty fun, but also very loud. They have live music every friday and saturday, and we have played there a few times but they always want us to pump up to uncomfortable levels! Great folks, though. Main Street Studios is where we will be Saturday night https://www.facebook.com/SinclairEstateVineyards/events#!/MainStreetStudiosWW - we already have tickets or we would have checked y'all out at the Powerhouse! You must be the Channel Cats! Great name!

Oops - not a Mackie, it is a Kustom Profile 2 300-Watt PA http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/kustom-profile-two-300w-pa-system. Since I have now found the manual for said PA, I find that we in fact must have a powered sub - and also powered monitors, should we go that way. When a sub is connected, the crossover automatically happens, to send lows to the sub.

So - it sounds like this might be the solution: get a decent powered sub and see what happens!
Ok, but does it have a crossover back to the highs?

The Kustom Powered mixers have a dedicated sub out. Already crossed over. I wish all powered/passive mixers had that feature.

"Sub Volume Control (1)
When using a powered subwoofer that is connected into the sub output jack (U), this control
becomes a volume control for the subwoofer. The output signal level can be adjusted by + or -
12dB.
When not using a powered subwoofer, this control becomes part of the equalizer section. This
control will adjust the sub frequencies by + or - 12dB."

Correction to earlier reference: check out the schematic on page 17 Invalid Link Removed
It appears as if the mains out does have a HPF and the sub out has a LPF. If I'm reading this incorrectly, please let me know.

I agree. Blues doesn't need thumping kickdrum.
I don't agree with that, but unless I misread there is no kick drum in this group.

Yes, we (bIG fONT BLUES - Thacher Carter, formerly of LaGrande on guitar, and we have a 92! year old former 50's big band drummer playing washboard, me on bass) play mainly smaller venues where customers don't expect to get there ears melted.

Nope no kick, just mild hand percussion. And yes, I think a bigger cab and possibly amp will be needed for our larger gigs. At about 33% on the preamp and 70% on master vol, I was hitting the limit whenever I dug in significantly. I suspect I would get a little more out of the amp with a 2x10 cab, but probably what I need to is get both a larger amp an cab.

Thanks all for the input!
