Painting a 2 year old's room..

Here's what it looked like after I painted it. Its still kinda wet in the picture. At night it looks a bit more darker and redder, during the day it looks like... well... an orange. I know I did a **** job painting and I never leveled out the left wall. I don't particularly care because I needed to paint over what was there before (graffiti and art I painted on there) and that wall is covered by a sheet anyways.

I went with white for both kids rooms. Painting any other color just means that you will have to paint again soon, and it will take more than one coat to cover the old paint. Also, white paint makes the best use of light, so you can save energy.

I'm thinking I'm going to paint a scene of some penguins on some ice, and for some reason the sky will be pink (Aurora borealis?), and throw some glow in the dark stars on the ceiling.
Simplistic enough. She's quite obsessed with penguins. I took her to the zoo a while back and she didn't want to leave the penguin exhibit.
I think she'll love it. I'll sketch a design and see how I can make it look. :D

but feel free to suggest more ideas. I may change my mind. i'm a woman afterall. Lol.

Get the paint that allows them to draw on the walls with chalk and crayons, then washes off with water. That way the kid can be creative all she wants.

It's not going to be fun keeping up with a childs ever changing taste in color and cartoon characters. You'll be painting that room every couple months. :D

We've usually avoided painting kids' rooms much because we've moved a lot and it hasn't been worth the effort. It sounds like you're willing to go all out. Rainbows and clouds are great ideas. The penguins would be cool if it's worth the effort, but she may not be so excited about them in six months, you never know.

Another thing about favorite colors is that you don't have to wash the walls in them floor-to-ceiling for the kid to notice and love the color's presence - doing just one wall, or the trim, in pink or whatever makes the same impression of the rest is in a neutral, even more if there's a matching area rug. But that's me thinking about economizing labor and having to repaint when I move out.

My sister-in-law left one of my nieces walls white and let her color, put stickers, anything she wants on it. It will be repainted when she get's older anyway so why not. She's now 8 and I imagine a change will be coming soon... I'm going to do one of my kids' room walls in chalkboard paint (I did my pedal board in it, incidentally), top to bottom.
