Pairing unequally rated cabs

I own a GK CX210 (400w @ 8 ohms) and I want to get the CX115 (300w @ 8 ohms) and my head is 350 @ 8, 700 @ 4. I can't see where I'd risk damaging the 115 whether I run it solo or paired since I don't come anywhere close to maxing out the master volume but I want to make sure. Input gain is usually around 1 o clock.

Use your ears, you will hear if something starts to distort!
Actually, most players don't hear the distortion until it becomes quite pronounced.

Also, for players who use O/D or distortion pedals, there's no way they can then hear the speaker reaching its limits until it's way beyond.
