Does anyone know the full internal signal path for this unit? The ‘saturate’ description in the manual is throwing me off on how to intuit this. Also, any feedback on actual use of the FX loop/insert?
The FX loop requires an insert cable. The TRS connection goes into the Palmer, the send goes into the front of your pedal chain and the output of you last pedal is connected to the return.
I think the saturate impacts how much of the effects is blended in. I will double check later on today.
The manual says ‘Saturate’ is placed in front of the FX loop. It’s essentially a soft clipping control. This leads me to believe it only works on the FX loop, but is the FX loop pre- or post-EQ. I’m fairly certain the voicing/drive circuits are all pre-EQ.
To what extent have you used this box? Recording? Gigging? Just practice/jams? How is it working out for you?So... I had a chance to play with the saturation today. It really acts a lot like a compressor. Here's a way to really hear it...
You will hear the compression kick in.
- Set the mode to Fuzz
- Turn up the drive all the way
- Turn up the blend all the way
- Turn up the saturation all the way
- Set the volume appropriately
Three pedals ain't too much. Sounds like a worthy piece of gear. I have an 2nd gen Palmer pocket amp for guitar. It's pretty great. I don't think it has cab sim. Can be harsh, especially through DI.On my primary gig, I use this on my pedal board. We use in ear monitors, so having solid EQ and cab sims makes life easy. My pedal board is tuner, compressor, Palmer.
I am currently experimenting with the GK Plex, as it has a compressor and tuner built in... even less to carry.
IMHO, the Palmer sounds better.
