Double Bass Pan F hole Condenser Mic?

i bought this exact thing some years ago and in my experience the only good point was the price. If you really want a microphone my advice is to buy a better one. If you want more lows maybe you have an impedance problem between your pickup and amp and need a buffer preamp; what is your amp and pickup?

I have several bass amps but usually use an SWR Workingman's 12. It's the cleanest of the bunch.

I've tried a Studio Projects condensor mic, and although it picks up nice as a room mic, I would like to get something for more close in. My UB has always sounded a bit weak in low end, and that may just be a characteristic of the instrument itself. But I would like to get more low end sound, so maybe my only option is to EQ?

I am not sure a mic is really going to give you more low end if your bass is already a bit weak in that department. If you are set on one though, I would be more inclined to get something like the Audio Technica ATM350. The Pan, and the K&K mic are decent if you are blending them with a pickup, but are a little weak on their own. Maybe a pickup would be a better option? The Realist is a dark sounding pickup that is fairly low end heavy.

Well, if you're going with a pickup and price is an issue, then I'd especially suggest the Rev Solo 2. It has to be fit carefully (but can easily be removed). Many have had good results with it, including me. No pickup is right for every bass. YMMV.

Revolution Solo is good as well. I like the Realist a bit better, but your results may be different.

I think that I would stay away from that f-hole mic. In my experience, I find that the worst possible place to mic a double bass, is at the f-hole.

I agree. I've been there (mic @ the F hole) and it's not the sound I'm looking for.
