In going through my closet, I come across a few business suits that I haven't worn in years, but am loath to throw out (or donate, as it were.) Most of my working life it was office casual, but the suits were required for client site visits.

Anyway, I have suits and ties that I'll never wear again (I do have a couple of sports coats I'll hold onto for appropriate occasions.) I have tighty whiteys that I'll never wear again (boxer briefs from here in out.) Florsheims and most other business accoutrements I'll never wear again.

What clothing or other wearables have you given up or would give up if you could?

Definitely the TWs. I ditched mine a long time ago.

I wore a tie (just for kicks) for the first time in at least seven years at our company holiday party last month. That'll probably be the last time I ever wear one. I have a rack full of mostly silk ties, business suits, tuxedo, dress shoes, etc. that I'll never wear again. All I have to do is say the word and my wife will happily take them down to the Salvation Army.

Hats. I can't make them look good.

If only more people shared your wisdom...

I still have a tux in my closet my mom bought for me, I think when I was in college. I've probably worn it four or five times, lent it to my son to wear for his prom (he got some different accessories to go with it, though). I also have an academic robe I bought at a hideous price in the enthusiasm of getting my doctorate, proudly imagining wearing it at all kinds of solemn academic functions. I have worn it exactly once, and that was for my own graduation... still have it, though.

Sweaters. I gathered quite a collection over the years....gifts from family mainly. I have been doing a purge of my home (as well as others here....see link below for TB thread). During said purge last night I filled a sizable Rubbermaid tub with sweaters that will be donated. I don't ever wear a sweater.....ever. So they all went in the donate pile. I shutter to think of the amount of money that was spent on them as some of them are high-end brand names. Hopefully some needy person will be warming himself with a really nice sweater soon. :D

The Great Purge of 2017 is not only coming, but starting early.

Get RID of all that crap you aren't using/wearing people! Why keep it?
