I'm working on revamping my upright bass rig and am looking for a 3 or 4 band parametric EQ to drive a power amp and cab. The project I'm working with is a trio- acoustic guitar/Weisenborn clean and through dirt/effects - and a drummer. It's basically a rootsy rock band with acoustic instruments, so it's LOUD. It'd be great if the EQ had enough gain and control to function as a pre. I have a D-tar Equinox, and while the basic premise of the unit is great (3 bands of parametric, 2 notch filters, etc.), I'm not loving the sound. Maybe it's not playing well with the other components? It's particularly dark sounding, but I don't think it's an impedance mismatch. My Fishman Full Circle seems to play nice with anything with a reasonable input impedance (>1M Ohm).
I'm using a Summit TD-100 as a DI for the house, and it performs wonderfully. I'm just looking for something flexible enough to combat a couple of problematic feedback or resonant points as well as basic EQing. It would be solely for my stage sound, I'm thinking.
What are you guys using? I'd prefer something rackmountable. I'm not as interested in the Headway or comparable units, but I could be swayed. I've had great luck using more general use devices- studio gear is great. Also, an on board hi-pass filter would be brilliant.
Thanks!
