Partial refund on a damaged bass, should I accept?

Hey TB, on the fence about this one. Received a used bass via Reverb, Spector Legend Custom. Plays great, BUT it has damage that supposedly happened during transit. Seller offered me a $50 refund to keep it. It had additional wear and a few chips in the neck, but this was not disclosed. See pics. Thoughts?

Not sure if I could even buff out those dents in a natural finish. If it were poly I'd probably repair it and keep it.

I’m usually not one to care TOO much about finish problems like that but dang. That looks pretty gnarly. I’d send it back, or ask for a larger refund. $50 seems pretty low IMO

I’m sure some of that damage could be steamed out, but I’m also sure it would cost more than the refund offered. I don’t think I could live with it so it would be going back.

Nope. I wouldn't want that. I'd send it back. If that happened during shipping, it wasn't packed properly or the seller just didn't disclose it. I'd send it back just on principle.

Ship it back! And refer the seller to the American Foundation for the Blind. Also, consider a report to reverb.

If it was a great player I'd take the money and run. If you don't like the bass enough to deal with some scuffs then give it back.

If that happened during shipping then the seller did a terrible job packing it. I’d return it.

I'm a retired woodworker and woodworking teach who could repair that (if I were at home). But, $50 doesn't cover even one hour of labor, and no materials. The questions is: can you live with it as-is?

I could probably live with it. Problem is, I often play a bass for a year or so and then sell it to fund a different one (see my feedback). I'd probably need it repaired if I ever sold it.

It would depend on how good a deal it was to begin with, and how much more they would discount. I voted ask for more money. It’s cosmetic. If the price is right it’s a bass with a story. If it’s otherwise nice and priced high, and looks matter, send it back.

The zipper in the loose-fitting gigbag? The seller swears it wasn't on there before shipping. He was pretty meticulous to photograph the other blemishes.

If the neck was in perfect condition with no dents and it played well the damage to the body wouldn't bother me.
Doesn't sound like this is the case so i'd be sending it back.
