Parts bass/pickguard questions.

So I'm assembling a parts bass. Question isn't whether to tort or not. Bought. American performer precision bass body. I ordered a standard 3 hole p bass pickguard for it. Standard size tone pot doesn't clear the body route (might be able to use a mini pot).

Started looking at some pictures and just eyeballing it, it looks like the 3rd hole on the performer is further from the edge.

Are my eyes playing tricks on me?

Found it odd that fender would actually make 2 different pickguards for these basses. So like I said its either a new pickguard or a mini tone pot. Having trouble finding the correct pickguard so some modification might be in order if the minipots won't clear.

It would make the most sense for the Performer's tone pot hole to be moved inward compared to the location of a regular 'ol P-bass's output jack. Assuming it uses a CTS pot, the pot is much larger than a Switchcraft output jack and would need the extra room. It would be less expensive for Fender to do it this way than to make a wider body route and a wider pickguard.

In your shoes, I would just get the correct pickguard, whether from Fender or third-party. It would drive me nuts knowing that I have two full-size pots and one mini pot under the hood.

You can definitely see it in the picture, the differences in the pickguards. I just didn't think of it right away. I get what you are saying about the body route.

Just a dumb mistake on my part. I had the whole thing soldered up and ready to go in last night and then.....it didn't fit lol.

As far as mixed pots, I've ordered some mini pots already, but honestly having the mixed pots wouldn't bother me, as long as it doesn't hurt the sound.

Gonna check with Fender, but they don't have the part listed on their site so not sure how easy it will be to come by.

I also wanted to change the pickguard. I installed a mini pot, that accomplished two things, smaller pot and got rid of grease bucket tone circuit. Still had to sand a little bit to get it to fit, used a dermal with sander bit. Pictures attached.
