Party SNAFU

I did one of these last year. Friends of my lead guitarist had a jam and invited the band. Said bring your instruments. Total disaster since no one knew comparable material and the drummer they got was some grumpy old dude that was a perpetual stand in that never played in his own band. Spent the entire night screaming chords at me and complaining that I needed to just play root quarter notes after i did a root, 3, 5 walking line. Kind of ruined public jams for me.

I have a bag that contains guitar and mic cables, power cables and misc stuff that I need for a gig or rehearsal. I brought it last night and realized I left my music stand at home. I had to improvise a little table. Luckily it was practice and not a gig.

Actually, I usually pack two sets. I have a laptop backpack (padded) where I keep my amp head, include two sets of the cables, and tuner pedal. In the top compartment I keep tuners, my IEMS, extra batteries and such. That goes on my back. Bass in one hand, and cab in the other. It's one easy trip.

It's real easy to buy a backup instrument cable, speaker cable, and generic power cable and leave them in an "emergency bag" tucked in the corner of your trunk. Mine also has a set of guitar strings and a drum key and a mic cable because even tho I don't use those things myself, I'd rather save someone else's bacon than deal with panicky bandmates.

Do feel free to set your autopilot on 500 feet above sea level and push the throttle to the limit, I'm just about certain you'll be able to fly right through, they are probably just an illusion. Pretty convincing, though, you gotta give the landscape painters credit...

that's flat, I lived in Vermont, and spent a few years in the lower Rockies, :smug:
