passive output?

Other than Fender/Squire does anyone else do good passive bass's?

Whats the alternative to these for a passive good tone???

Lakland makes a beautiful sounding and playing passive J and P Bass in their relatively low cost Skyline line of basses.

And, most basses with on-board preamps have a bypass switch, which makes them passive!

How about the ESP LTD B50 or F50? Inexpensive, good out of box hardware, pups, very good build and fretwork. Kinda fenderish looking for the B version, P&J pups. I like them better then the fender squiers myself.

A point overlooked by too many I think (not meaning people in this thread). A decent electronics package will fully bypass the preamp in passive mode.

Very few companies use active pickups, and basses with active pickups and passive pres are more uncommon. I always assume someone means no active EQ when they ask for a passive bass.

Not the JKTB, ARTB, Artcore and the starterspack (which is actually a really good bass if you put some good strings on it).

Yeah i meaning passive eq - i prefer my electrics outside the bass.

By the way on average, how much do you reckon an active preamp adds to the price of a guitar?
