There are several I think about, but only one that letting go of still bugs me. I found a great deal on a limited-edition MIJ JB62 through Ishbashi and had it shipped all the way to the U.S. It felt, looked and sounded great, but after only six months, financial difficulties came my way and I had to sell it.

Having to part with it weighed heavily on my heart for a few of years, enough so that I finally pieced together a parts-bass in tribute to my lost All-Black JB62.

Then, there was "The Three Amigos"! The Satin Pewter Metallic Squier Standard Precision Bass Special was the first bass I ever wanted to own. It not being the first I bought, but the GAS was strong with that one. Eventually, I not only scored one, but got the entire Squier Standard set. Not only were they a handsome trio, they also matched my all-time-favorite car; my 2004/05 Platinum Grey Jetta TDI.

I still think of them fondly, but I don't regret letting them go. Gear-wise, things were getting crowded here and I they deserved to go to people who'd put them to better use than I.

Not so much. Basses come, basses go.

Except for one....this all original 4-57 Pbass I found in 1972 at Earl's Music Store in Plainfield, IL. It was my first Fender and first "vintage" bass. I sold it to a collector a year later to pay some bills.

Fast forward to 1984....said collector offered to sell it back to me for $500. I declined. Now THAT was dumb, and I regret it to this day.

Yes indeed! I’ve been here since 1989.

I haven’t been to DiPinto’s current shop in a few years, and I need to stop by. When I bought my Belvedere in 2003, the shop was on 2d St. in Northern Liberties.

When did you buy your Grabber? I remember seeing one there many years ago. Cool basses.

That was probably my Grabber. I would say 02/03 in the Nolibs shop. It’s long gone now, but I wish I hadn’t sold it. I was good friends with Tim Cloonan of CallowHill Guitars we used to go into we used to go into DiPintos and hang out sometimes. I almost bought a Belvedere. I wish I had.

I had P-Bass #0374 stolen from my van, New Year's 1970.

Never recovered, still miss it.

In the same week I bought a Mike Lull MV5 Jazz with a Brazilian fretboard, and a Sadowsky RV5 Jazz.

It was like having Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes in the same team.

I told myself I didn't need both basses and I sold the Lull!! I never look back, but that was a decision I will always regret.

I have two that I miss. My first "real" bass was a red Ibanez GSR200 that my brother got me as an early college graduation gift. He gave it to me before my Senior Year as I was in a band and borrowing a friend's bass at the time. I played it on a lot of bar gigs at school and after graduation. I gave it to my step-brother in-law for Christmas many years later, as he was starting out on bass, and I thought it was a nice idea to symbolically pass the torch. What I didn't know was at the time he was an addict and it likely was pawned/sold for drug money. It was an ordinary beginner bass, but still meant a lot to me.

The second is this franken-bass that I sourced the parts from the classifieds here. It plays and sounds great, but in one of those impulse gear purges, I sold it locally to someone who was looking for a p-bass. I miss it, but I know it's being played and taken care of. I may cross its path soon, as our bands are planning a show together.

The only bass I’ve ever regretted selling, a Brice Prestige Z6 neck-thru. I tried repeatedly to buy it back from the guy I sold it to, but no dice … Never should have sold that one

I got rid of my BRICE EARTHQUAKE bass , It was a mOnStEr bass , sounded great and played even better . I've owned and sold many basses , I regret
Selling My Brice Earthquake probably the most.
I got BRICE FrEaK 5 a few years ago,
Another awesome BRICE bass, for like 399.00 .
It's the only Bass I've ever owned that , to this day I've not had to do a single adjustment to anything , New strings only
It's exactly the same as the day I got it.
That's 100% True and even more impressive.
But I still really miss the EARTHQUAKE .

My 1st stab at a slab, mid 70's Tele bass. It was a pre-modded [Dimarzio HB & BA bridge] pawn store find. I had it painted black, added a pearloid pg, and a chrome pu cover my dad made.

My Tele bass was a favourite and I too wish I had. Neck was a bit big and “sharp” body edge that my right arm banged against….. but still. Oh well.

I may have already posted here, but I definitely regret selling every Alembic I ever owned. Two in the 90s and one 9 years ago, all Series Ones with the pointed tail.

As well as every Stingray 5.

Not bass I owned and sold, but one that I didn't jump on quick enough. When I was a young'un in the '90s there was a music store near my house that had a Gibson Les Paul 5-string (a Special, I think) that sounded so good with a little overdrive but was the most hideous maroon color. Every time I went there I would grab that bass to try out whatever effects whim had grabbed me, but the color and the price kept putting me off. That thing hung around for months before I decided to get it and have it refinished. I went to the store to put it on layaway only to find it had been sold the previous day!

One that I did own was an LTD B-1005MS, their multiscale offering. That thing sounded amazing, was very responsive to plucking technique and position, and had a beautiful finish. When I received it, it had a chip off of the top 'peak' in the headstock - should have sent it back but they didn't have any more in stock and I was excited! I played that bass as my main player for a year and finally decided that it was too heavy and to move it on. I've considered getting another but these companies won't stop putting out new multiscale basses that are so cool and shiny...
