My ebmm old smoothie from a couple of years ago, hopefully whoever I traded it to on TB kept it and enjoyed it. Tried some other stingrays here and there in the last few years and they aren't the same.

Yeah someone took a blue ink pen and wrote/scratched the word FUNK into the heal before I got it too.
One bass I think about more than any other is my old 97’ Fender 75 Reissue Jazz. It was my first proper bass that my Dad bought me. I had to sell it on here a few years back due to some financial hardships.
What’s wild, is that I found it listed on Reverb, and it’s still there, but the seller wants $1800. They have it listed in excellent condition as well, which is super far from the truth. It’s beat up. Dings, finish cracks, etc. I messaged him a bunch and explained that this was my bass, shared photos of the bass that match it up, and he would not budge on the price. Too bad. I really miss that bass.

I owned a beautiful Mosrite Celebrity bass in a sort of amber burst finish. A hollow-body, both top and back were arched with beautifully book-matched maple. Oddly, the bass sounded very bright and modern. I don't miss it; it was simply too small too play with a short scale and an extremely narrow neck.

Original Steinberger bass with the rotating back plate thing, and the semi-useless detachable spring loaded leg rest. I think about that bass. But would I trade for the two I have now? NOPE.
Ric 4001 that I bought around 1985.
Sold it around 1990 - couldn't make it sound like Geddy.
Now, that bass would be worth at least 4x what I paid for it, and now I kinda know the secret to the Geddy sound (Jarod Grieco, Tim Starace on utoob.)

I have 3 basses that I foolishly sold to finance other basses at the time. A Pedulla Pentabuzz it was the best fretless for play and tone I have ever touched. A Modulus Q5 just a lightweight beauty of a Bass my main bass for a few years. A Dingwall AfterBurner II another lightweight great Bass what was I thinking. All three basses have gone up dramatically in price since I sold them, just 3 of my life's foolish mistakes for not holding on to all these basses.

Sadowsky M5-24, ash/pau ferro lined fretless, with Nordstrand Fat Stacks. Sold it to Chef shortly before he passed. Wish his Estate would sell it back (I tried). The fret lines were super-faint (I suspect it was defretted as the sidedots were between the "frets"), and I didn't want to disturb a classic axe with any modifications that would enhance visibility. In retrospect, installing bright and properly-positioned side dots would have done the trick.
Sadowsky M5-24, 25th Anniversary, mahogany/ebony, koa top. Pretty much a perfect bass and my main axe for 4 years, but I got involved in a band (defunct since Covid) for which I needed a more organic, old school sound. In retrospect, I should have put Fat Stacks on it! But at the time I didn't grok that this was an option.
Late-90's Lakland 55-94, lined fretless; alder/ebony. It played like butter, and sounded really, really good...except for the electronics. I don't kick myself too much over this one -- I wanted to transition back to 34," and I wasn't gonna disturb the electronics on a bass that could well be collector's item some day - it's that good. And I know it landed with player who appreciates it. But in retrospect, I could have kept it, and redone the electronics on a less-special fretted 55-94, and been happy with those two anchoring my scene. The other two bug me far more, as I'm back with some MIJ Sadowskys - I keep coming back for the preamp -- and having one of those, the fretless in particular, would have been complementary with my "needs." GAS is a bytch!

For nostalgic reasons, I would like to play the 1994 Modulus Q5 I owned for 16 years, then pass it on to someone else. If I am not going to use it, I can’t keep extra stuff around.

My US Lakland. Passive dual ChiSonics.
I named this one Midas. I don't even remember why I got rid of it.
Awesome bass. I got a KILLER deal as Dan Lakin was selling Lakland to the current owners.
My 65(birth year) P bass that i had completely restored by Kevin Caton (former head of the US shop for Lakland.
Refinished in Candy Apple Red nitro, refretted as well. Just a beautiful bass

Wish I still had my '76 4001; not sure if the pickups were maybe mircophonic? It just never sounded right; I tried really hard to dig it but it never stuck; sold it for the same amount I paid for it; I remember the guy giving me the last $5 in quarters LOL; this was before the interwebs...
Oh, also, I wish I still had this '98 Fender California Special p/j bass that I bought from one of my best friends; I miss that bass too...

Me too! But mine was a 2000; I really hated that wine color, but the bass played/sounded/felt great; I thought about covering it with stickers but sold it instead,,,
