Only if you have a myopic worldview.
Tell that to gamblers, alcoholics, and anyone else who has lost a house/job/relationship because of something not drugs.

No sad in the sense that he fell into addiction and never could get out. There are millions who suffer from this all around us in some way or form everyday in this country and its not always drugs. All we can do our best to treat, educate and pray someone we care about or love doesnt fall prey to addiction (us included)...that's all we can do![]()
Aren't we talking about drug addiction here? Btw, alcohol is a drug.
I'm still making the living amends to my family for the worry and fear that I caused them. I only hope that I stay willing to live in the here and now enough to stay in touch with my decisions and their weight.
Okay, I wanna throw it out there. Can't we just end the whole discussion about drugs and addiction? First off, we don't know his situation. Nobody did. And second, have some respect. He died of an accidental overdose. Recreational drug use, addiction, or maybe a valid reason, but no one knows for sure. And for God's sake, have some respect. Not everyone who is in an addicted state deserves death as their fate.
Read over your statement again and see if it makes sense. What situation makes self-injecting unprescribed narcotics "valid"? Almost all overdoses are accidental, and the ones that aren't accidental are the most selfish.
And nobody said he deserved it.
+1 There is no disrespect to Paul. Only some here who questioned .. Why? Why would someone with all he had slip into addiction and accidentaly overdose. We then talked about how drug abuse and addiction can be a one way street to ruin if the person doesnt find help and learn to retain it in their lives.
We dont know why Paul used drugs. Maybe he got caught up in the "rockstar life" etc. We can all learn from this and turn it into something positive for others who need and seak help. We need to use this for young musicians who might be lured into the "Rockstar life" and go down that road...education is key. We are just trying to understand here and wonder why he took this path after he had been in rehab and even said he had near death experiences with drugs. I know the answer and its Addiction. Its too bad he gambled again and lost, RIP Paul.
